I love seeing the springtime blooms and nature come back to life. I’m sitting on my back porch, just taking in the beauty of fresh green leaves covering every tree and the smell of freshly cut grass in the air.
Bonus… I just found the most unique hummingbird feeder to bring those sweet little visitors in for a closer look. And I love watching the butterflies as they begin to transform into their beautiful selves around the yard.
The only challenge I’ve had this year, and it’s a little unusual, has been the bluebirds. We have dozens of cheerful little bluebirds fluttering all around. I know you’re probably thinking, what in the world could be challenging about that? I mean, they’re sweet, charming, and feel like something straight out of Snow White.
Well… come to find out, bluebirds feel threatened by what they think are other birds coming in to take over their territory. The problem is, those “other birds” are just their own reflection in car windows and mirrors. And their way of handling it is to attack… by leaving behind a whole lot of mess. I’m telling you, you wouldn’t believe how much damage such tiny birds can do.
But that’s just a little story to get us thinking. The real question is, what seeds are you dropping?
God has such a sense of humor sometimes, using even something like that to teach us a lesson. But it’s true… we are all planting seeds every single day.
We planted a garden this year, hoping for a full harvest of fresh vegetables to take care of our family. We worked the ground, tilled the soil, and carefully planted both seeds and seedlings, trusting they will grow into something healthy and strong. We even planted some seeds that have been passed down from generations before us, hoping to bring back a few memories along the way.
There’s something really special about that. When you plant something from your past, especially something tied to family, it brings a part of your story back to life. It reminds you of where you came from and helps shape where you’re going.
Not everyone grew up that way though, so the question still stands… what seeds are you planting in your everyday life that will grow into something meaningful for the future?
I try my best each day to pray for wisdom on what seeds I’m planting. I have grandkids to encourage, team members to pour into, a husband to love and support, and clients to guide and protect. I am so blessed, and God has given me so many areas in life where I can make an impact.
But I’ll be honest, there are days when I feel discouraged, and the seeds I have to give don’t feel very good at all. That’s why it matters so much who you surround yourself with. I’m thankful for the godly friends and family in my life who help lift me back up when I start to drift. They love me enough to be honest and help redirect me when I need it.
I’ve also learned that sometimes you have to create a little distance from people who pull you down instead of lifting you up. They’re out there, and we all come across them. You just have to be careful how much space you give them in your life.
I’ve seen people I care about struggle with depression, anxiety, and even thoughts of suicide. It’s hard, and it’s heavy. When you’re in that place, it’s so easy to focus on everything going wrong and feel like the world is just piling on.
And if I’m being real, there are times I want to sit in that feeling for a while and just be sad. But that’s not a place we can stay.
We need people who remind us of truth, who help shift our perspective, and who bring us back to hope. It’s so important to have people in your life who will encourage you, lift you up, and help you keep moving forward.
We are meant to be the light of the world. That means bringing honesty, hope, and encouragement to those who feel lost or discouraged.
So today, as you go through your normal routines, remember that you matter. You are a light to those around you so shine brightly! You have seeds to nurture and plant. Look for someone who might need a smile, a kind word, or just someone to listen.
A single moment you share could change, or even save, a life. And sometimes, it might even be your own, if you allow someone else to sow into you too. Be generous and accept other’s love and support. We’re not only here to give, but to receive too. When we let others give to us, we allow them to experience that same blessing.
Now, go and be fruitful. Multiply good deeds and positive energy…it’s contagious!
Just like wildflowers, butterflies help pollinate and spread even more beauty into the world. They work together, each playing a part.
And just like them, we are meant to do the same.
