Are you always looking for blessings in every situation?
It’s easy to become discouraged pretty quickly these days. There are so many things that keep piling on, not to mention the lack of sleep we often have under the weight of all that faces us daily. We really can’t expect to function at a high level when we are sleep deprived and overwhelmed with hardship, but we often do. We keep pushing ourselves to the brink of disaster before we finally stop and breathe.
I am so proud of a friend of mine, actually more like a gift from God to me and like a daughter, for praying through each situation. It never fails. No matter how distraught she may be, she is constantly researching and learning what God wants for her life and her family. She amazes me because she never gives up. She never gives in. She is always seeking God’s guidance to make wise decisions, and it continually leads her to more peace.
The funny thing is, she is looking for wisdom. Most often, we are too busy to take the time to truly seek, research, and steadfastly pray about our concerns or decisions. We neglect these important matters and instead simply react to whatever situation is in front of us. Usually, a reaction is nowhere near as effective as a proactive response. I have seen in many instances that her responses to crises are much more in line with long-term solutions rather than quick fixes. It is impressive, and it is a lesson for us all.
And in each act of obedience comes blessings. “Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only.” James 1:22
It’s hard to remember to always trust God in every situation. Some circumstances feel far more urgent than others, but nothing should ever feel so urgent that we neglect to ask for His help. This subtle act of obedience can lead to many blessings throughout your life and the lives of your family as well.
I believe some situations arise because of the actions of others, and they are coming whether we like it or not. We are not in control of what others do to create chaos in our lives, but we are in control of how we handle it. We can pause and choose not to react. We can count to ten before falling off the deep end. We can hold our tongues before unleashing hurtful words. We can ask God to take control of every situation and give us wisdom and clarity.
As my Bold Coach has affirmed many times, “Clarity is Power.”
And with clarity come better responses.
These days, our time feels more limited than ever. We have countless distractions pulling our focus away from what is truly key to a more empowered life. God is good and ready to shower His blessings over our lives if we will simply remember to ask Him in every situation.
Look for the blessings all around you.
Even through the really difficult situations, there are always things to be grateful for. Seek godly wisdom, and you will receive it. We will never be perfect, so make sure to give yourself, and others, more grace than may seem deserved. But with God, all things are possible.
Don’t ever give up on that truth.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
