I Am Embarrassed | Sass and Sense on Purpose Week 6

I Am Embarrassed | Sass and Sense on Purpose Week 6I have always been a little shy when it comes to putting myself out there on social media, especially on video.

I don’t like the way I sound.
I don’t like the way I look.
I feel awkward.

If you’ve seen one of my videos, you may have even laughed.
Thanks for not telling me. HA.

But here’s the truth someone lovingly pointed out to me:
I sound like that anyway.
I look like that anyway.
I might actually be that awkward anyway.
And I’ve been communicating that way my whole life.
So maybe… I should stop disliking it and start accepting it.

Seriously though, I have an incredible opportunity in front of me.
I get to reach people.
I get to teach lessons only I can share.
I get to help others learn from my mistakes so they can move ahead faster than I did.

And here’s the question that stopped me in my tracks:
Why am I completely comfortable talking to people all day long in person…
but hesitant to do it on video?

If I’m willing to help one person face-to-face, why wouldn’t I help one hundred the exact same way, just through a screen?
Imagine how much we could multiply our impact if we simply allowed ourselves to be vulnerable on camera.

I think a lot of us struggle with that same “stage fright.”

FEAR.
False Evidence Appearing Real.

We convince ourselves we look ridiculous.
We assume people are judging.
We imagine rejection that hasn’t even happened.
But what if we pushed past those initial thoughts?

What if the very platforms that once felt impersonal could actually become tools for deeper connection?

Because here’s the truth:
When you share valuable insight and real life experiences, you build trust.
When you admit vulnerability, you give others permission to be vulnerable too.
We are all perfectly imperfect.

So be proud of your flaws.
Your scars.
Your messy, unfinished edges.

Every single one of us is carrying insecurities and silent struggles beneath the surface. Hiding them doesn’t serve us. It stunts growth. It delays purpose.
And maybe the thing you’re most hesitant to share is the very thing someone else desperately needs to hear.

Life is about helping others.
And like it or not (trust me, I was a late adopter), social media is one of the biggest stages available to us.

Not for fame.
Not for vanity.
But for service.

We all have something to share.

So make it known.
Make an impact.
Use your gifts to bless someone else.

You don’t have to be polished.
You don’t have to be perfect.
You don’t have to be an actor.
You just have to be you.

Authentic.

And that is more than enough.
